FXD-SD SUPERDUTY

So I am pokin along on the path to my what I am planning to be the best Dyna I can build. This is a long process,  the budget is LIMITED!!!......my shop time is limited, and this is my daily ride so down time in the summer is a no-no. Almost everything I have done to this bike has been with either used parts, or re-habilitated crashed parts. I built the detachable bag set up from a bunch of odd ball parts including a set of old Heritage Softail leather bag supports and a diced up set of crashed detachable backrest plates. The bags are crash parts as well, with a sweet coat of bedliner to mask all the little flaws.  I have most of the chassis stuff done as you can see from the pics in the past here. I still have a set of newly rebuilt FXDX adjustable forks to install, but I need to puchase a bearing installer/remover for my front wheel bearings to complete the job. I have a set of Harley/Brembo calipers that will be installed at the same time with the larger Touring style floating rotors and the larger master cylinder. That will pretty much do it for this year. The total plan at this point is to install the FXRD fairing I have, with a late model Touring stereo system in it. This fairing is going to be designed on modified HD factory bracket, but will be made to be easily removeable, just like the bags. Also I am gathering the parts and cash to do a 113 inch kit in the motor. I have the pistons, rods, flywheels and heads, need to get the cam chest taken care of and the cases bored for the bigger spigots. Once I am at that point it will be the FXD SUPERDUTY in my mind.

Enough Blah.....here is a pic sequence of the bag set up I built. Been running it for 2 years, and it has held up nicely. Hopefully I can make the fairing just as simple to ditch.

                                          Tear the seat off......

                                          Grab the bag set up.....

                                           Drop it on and clamp on with the Detachable locks,
                                           and plug in the Aux lighting.

                                           Throw the couch cushion on.......

                                         I have two soft bags to slide on to the backrest depending
                                         on how much shit we need to pack for the ride.

                                                And here it is ready to rock for a weekender

                                                or what ever. Keeps the wife happy on

                                                the back and I can still rip it all off for a beat
                                                run if necessary.

Superglide update pics

 Its been a long time since I threw some shit up here to share, so here's some shots of the current state of my Dyna. Not done with the Camo Vinyl yet, probably gonna throw some on the headlight fairing and something on the rear fender.....just not sure yet. Got the FXDX forks to throw on, and V-Rod Brembo calipers and master cylinder. Have to change my wheel bearings to get it done, but that should be the only hiccup in the job. I should just buy the bearing tool to have it for the future.  Working on the Shovel in the garage as well, pics of that to follow once it is a little closer to done.

This is the issue with american manufacturing......

Craftsman...... not only outsourcing the manufacturing of a wrench it obviously copied from an American tool maker, but also sold in its stores till it found a cheaper way to have it made. This is just one of the reasons that this country is in the position it is currently in. American workers out of a job, American ingenuity copied for corporate profit. I have a good bit of Craftsman tools in my box, I think other than replacing broken tools I will no longer be supporting the Craftsman name.

A buddy of mine sent me a couple video's a while back and i just got a chance to have a look at them. A little more practice doing rollers out behind the shop. Dude on the Softail is young buck Rob trying to figure this burnout thing out.....lol.

I am putting this bike together to fit all the needs I have:
                1   To Haul Ass and run through the corners....motor work is the largest expense,
                     so the chassis and paint work come 1st.
                2   To be able to haul me, my wife and our shit where ever we decide we want to
                     go, hence the detachable bags, trunk and backrest.
                3   To be built by me as much as possible.

 Upgrades in the works for this winter are an FXDX Fork upgrade, an FXR-T Fairing that will be removable,  Powdercoat and paint work, and I have most of the parts for the 113 inch motor kit, just need to get the cam chest parts together and have the cases bored for 4 inch cylinders.

Taken back in early October.....A little practice out behind the shop doin rollers on my Superglide.....hey, I only almost ate shit once, not bad in my book. I have not tried any since I put the taller bars on, they make such a difference in how the bike handles and responds to your movement I need some seat time to get used to it.

This is it a year later, with the mini fairing, 1st gen DX shocks, cut down levers, relocated plate, and mag wheels. This shot was taken with the Ray Price Samson 2 into 1, I recently slid a Thunderheader on to it.
